The shirts were first unveiled Friday at the Orange County Government Center in Goshen, marking the start of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
GOSHEN, N.Y – It's been 20 years since The Clothesline Project has been displayed in Orange County.
Every year, in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, hundreds of colorful T-shirts are hung up, citing messages from victims and survivors of domestic violence.
The project is a partnership between Fearless Hudson Valley, a nonprofit dedicated to providing resources for domestic violence, sexual violence and trafficking, and Orange County government.
Kellyann Kostal-Larrier is executive director of Fearless Hudson Valley. She said The Clothesline Project is more than a movement.
“It’s both a love letter to survivors and a call of action to those committed to advocating for survivors’ needs and rights," Kostal-Larrier said.
During Domestic Violence Awareness Month, October 9 event spotlights the Clothesline Project and urges collective action against violence
