LGBTQ+ and Domestic Violence

Friday, October 8, 2021
10:00 am12:00 pm

This program aims to educate service providers, youth-centered agencies, youth, and the community on how LGBTQ IPV survivors face many barriers to receiving support and safety caused by homophobia, biphobia, transphobia, and racism. The program discusses how LGBTQ and HIV-affected people of color face a “triple jeopardy”: racism from direct service providers and the LGBTQ communities, heterosexism within one’s community of color, and abuse from their partners. The program will talk about how LGBTQ members are already less likely than their hetero-normative counterparts to utilize help for IPV, and Black/African American and Latin@ survivors are less likely to seek support to address IPV.

OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AND FREE.
Registration requested but not required.

Also being held again on October 19th!
